Terra Cotta Plant Waterer & Painted Bottles
This preceding summertime I gave something new to me a try , terra cotta plant waterer . Being that I call for a lot of practice with my glass house painting technique I decided to geminate the terra cotta plant water boy & paint bottle .
Wine bottles to be exact . I have to say I am impressed with what a great problem the water boy did in keeping my outdoor potted plant watered . I have yet to try them with indoor plants but I shall this come wintertime whenI bring in many of my plants .
The works waterer may look rather foreign but these are wanton to work with . They are made of terra cotta and let water ooze into the soil as it dry to lightly but efficiently keep your plants fly high .

They come under unlike brand name likePlant Partnerand Plant Nanny . I bought mine onAmazonbut I am certain you could find them in a local , well stocked with garden center .
Some say to douse them before putting them into the potted plant but I do n’t cerebrate I did that . The industrial plant was well watered before I slide down this baby down into the territory though . The nursing bottle is empty in this photograph , I just need to pull out the feeding bottle from the waterer and refill . The water boy stay in the soil .
Many of the photograph I share here do not have the waterer sunk down far enough into the soil but this one shows you how it should be done , fight it down until only the very top is showing , fill your bottle with water and maintain your thumb over the wine-coloured bottle top as you invert it to insert into the flora waterer . You wo n’t be able to forestall a few free fall from escaping as you tiptoe the bottleful upside down but it does the job well enough . At least my ovolo is not big enough.(it does n’t have to be wine , I have understand you may even use a 2 litre soda bottle if you are gone a long time )

My greenish dragonfly bottle is what I used in this geranium plant all summertime and it did a wonderful occupation of maintain it hydrated . I had a geranium in the same kind and size of flowerpot next to this one and did not have a waterer in it . It was not as healthy or nice looking as this one and seemed to struggle.(I did this to give the waterer a good trial for the summer , I started in June so it was a adept 3 calendar month test through the hot part of the year here )
You are not required to paint the bottle but I thought it would be a fun twist and good practice for me . As I get more proficient and confident I can start on some looking glass painting tutorial for the unlike designs . I like to get it down and prove to make it as well-off as possible for beginners .
I did not do two coats on the helianthus , I wanted to see if I could get it opaque enough without doing so . It does take care fine but I think I would favour doing the second coat , yellow is a laborious color to get opaque . I modified my regularSunflower painting techniqueonly more or less to paint this . The daisy I did use two coats , the bottom coat isFolk Art Enamels Wicker Whiteor you may also useFolk Art Multi Surface Wicker White .

The 2nd coating I usedMartha Stewart Multi Surface Pearl paint in Mother of Pearlcolor . Most of these color should be available at your local craft store . I do it how the pearl paint adds some play to it . It exhibit up much easily in person , desire me . Daisy Painting Tutorial
Here is another dragonfly , I usedMartha Stewart Multi Surface metallic in Citrine GoldwithAmericana watch glass Glitter Gloss Enamels in Greenfor the sparkly dark green dots . The backstage are theMother of Pearl by Martha Stewartlike the daisy petals withCalypso Sky by Plaid Folk Artveining .
Here is a close up of my dragonflies .

Of of course I can never have too many rose . you may see myPainting rose wine on Glasstutorial here for the whole enchilada by clicking the cerise spotlight text .
I sum some lavender five petal bloom to go with the blush wine . I should have a tutorial of that up in the near future . They are fairly easy . I purchase these works waterers myself , I was not compensated or contacted by the manufacturer to post about them , I just wanted to try some out and I was very impressed . I will update on how well they did indoors after I have used them a few months .
I did welcome some of the paint costless of flush by bothPlaidandDecoArtand some I purchased myself . Plaidhas been especially generous in automatically sending me their new crafting supply as they publish them . I will be sharing more of what I seek and what I think as the weeks go on .

felicitous planting and painting !
