Where It All Began

“ There was n’t anything here when I moved here , so every tree , hedge and industrial plant has been put in by me , ” cent start up .

“ It ’s a difficult siteas we ’re on heavy clay . It ’s also a really exposed site with a lot of wind and frost , so it ’s been a steep read bender in respect to what will originate .

“ I just started digging ! I knew I needed to implant trees and hedge to make a windbreak , so that was the first matter .

“ Then the relaxation of it just travel along on , really . ”

Exploring The Garden

“ It ’s a big garden , it ’s 3.5 acres , and I ’d say I ’m only just growing into it , ” Penny says .

“ In the field , I ’ve pop to civilize that into wild flower areas , as it ’s nice to make something pretty out of the wilder distance out there .

“ The independent heavy borders areusually shroud in bees , which is a high spot for me . I just let works come in .

“ In there were have the catchfly , foxglovesand vabascums , which have all sort of self - seeded .

“ The philadelphus is looking nice and it smell spectacular . We call it the bubblegum bush because of its unique fragrance .

“ Next to that , there ’s a lilacthat my brother give to me . It was so small and has grow up and get on over the years , which has been keen to see . ”

Penny’s Favourite Garden Corner

“ I make one bed as an entering for the b that we run as an Airbnb , but I intend it ’s become one of my favourite parts of the garden , ” Penny contribution .

“ It ’s a mixture of cultivated and wild planting , so we ’ve got the corncockleand the genus Nepeta , which is a dainty combination .

“ Then there ’s the campanulaand delphiniums . It ’s got a bungalow garden feel to it .

“ This section is also home to myfavourite rose in the garden , which is ‘ Desdemona ’ .

“ That was give to me by a client and it ’s doing well . It was only put in a couple of year ago , but it plainly care it here because it ’s a cheery and sheltered touch . ”

“ A garden does n’t have to be thoroughgoing , ” tell Penny .

“ This garden is not perfect – it is far from it – but it ’s still a lovely garden . I imagine it ’s really particular . ”
