However , taken at the proper level , while still strong , it is bask by many out - of - hand , and it give in a delicious succus for stale potable . If the crisp sliced flesh is stewed with a little piddle and sugar and then strain through a wire sieve , it makes a most satisfactory merchandise , much like traditional applesauce but with a rich sapidity . With the gain of Ceylon cinnamon or any other spices desired , this sauce can be slowly cooked down to a thick consistency to make a preserve very similar to orchard apple tree butter . Leaves and yield – cool , eh ?
I ’ve eaten the leaves before when I was touring H.E.A.R.T. in the Lake Wales area , but I keep missing right fruit harvest . Now that I ’m in a tropic climate rather of just confabulate on function , I should get a chance to stress the yield shortly .
The nigher you get to the equator , the more change of fruit you may farm . You go from perhaps 50 - 100 fruit tree species in temperate climate to over 1,000 at the equator .

I really plant one of these Tree inThe Great South Florida Food Forest Projectlast year but it die from a unknown barque injury – we never pinned down what damaged it .
Spondias dulcisdefinitely needs to make its way onto my next homestead . I jazz mango and we ’re also go to enjoy this stuffy congener .
As a net Federal Reserve note for today : I ’ll be post picture from ECHO for quite a while . Rachel and I did a fortune of motion-picture photography and photo pickings . If you ever get a chance to inflict , take it !
