We ’ve had a tough summer , with hotness , drouth , fires , bad aura and then a ton of rainfall during the Minnesota State Fair . ( Oh , yes , and a uphold pandemic . ) Still , it is September and for many northerly nurseryman , it is one of the best month in the garden . The frantic activity of early summer to get things take off and the rut of July and August are behind us . But that does n’t mean there are n’t thing to do . Here are 10 September garden tasks to tackle .
Clean up expend / diseased vegetables . If your tomato plants haveblight or septorialeaf spot and production is diminishing , it might be time to commit them . Do n’t compost diseased plant material unless you have a compost atomic reactor that gets really hot . draw in the plant and throw out the debris .

engraft something fast - growing . If you have a yap in your garden , you might want to plant a spry - growing lolly , arugula or radish . Some veggie can take a turn of frost and grow fast enough to give you a craw before the remainder of October .

get transitioning houseplant indoors . One important September garden job is to start transitioning any houseplant that may have spend the summertime outside back into the house . You ’ll need to clean plant life and the pot and verify there are no bug on it before bringing them indoors .
