Learning to grow flowers and food
Today we ’re in northeastern Pennsylvania visiting with Scott .
arise up I had very little photograph to horticulture , aside from my annual 2- to 3 - calendar week holiday to my founder ’s theater in southerly Mississippi , where he had a small produce farm . For the preceding few years I ’ve dabbled with putting a storehouse - boughttomatoand / orpepperplant in my yard with very little effort , which led to very little return .
InDecemberof 2021 a permutation flip , and I really upped my gardening plot ! Although myveggiesweren’t as abundant as I would have like , I grew heyday like it was my 2d job this twelvemonth . My main finish for next year is to improvise my return on vegetables , focusing on tomato plant , white pepper , eggplants , andcucumbers .

Every garden lead off from somewhere . Here a lot of nothing is just beginning to turn into a garden .
The bed is now prepped , mulch , edged , and ready for implant !
The summertime garden has flowers — here , some snapdragons ( Antirrhinummajus , yearly ) .

The harvest ofwinter squashwas vivacious , with thrive cucumber vine growing in a trellis and some corn and sunflowers ( Helianthusannuus , one-year ) behind .
A noddingsunflowerbloom presides over the garden . It ’ll allow food for manypollinatorsnow , and birds will junket on the ejaculate once they mature .
Black - eyed Susans ( Rudbeckiafulgida , Zones 3–9 ) are blooming like crazy . A katydid seems to be enjoying the show as well .

This springtime view of the garden includes a potted Nipponese maple ( Acerpalmatum , Zones 5–9 ) and tulips ( Tulipahybrids , Zones 3–8 )
