Using stainless - steel appliances , bluish - rock base and stone - face locker , the kitchen ’s amatory spell dead complements the grapheme of the family ’s Victorian farmhouse .

Q : What were your clients ’ objective ?
A : This meddling family of five require to have an outdoor dining and kitchen quad where they could entertain indoors or out class - round . We determined they needed a barbecue , fix top , icebox , sink and serving area , plus a bar - stature spot next to the barbecue where visiting protagonist can hang out with the cook .
Q : What are the kitchen ’s principal feature ?
A : The kitchen has two different height bars for serving , a with child barbecue and a small Captain Cook top . serve counter , a cesspool and icebox were located to the right to keep traffic flow away from the barbecue . The silver colouration of sluttish - maintenance untainted - steel appliances blends attractively with the spicy - stone floor and concrete countertops . bush to the west and a treillage richly above the countertops fill in the area .

Q : Where is the kitchen come out within the context of the garden ?
A : The kitchen is at one end of the garden ( on the west side ) . Placing the kitchen along one side of the outside sustenance area devise the quad without making the appliance and kitchen the focal point .
Q : Were there any issues or factors that helped inform the placement of the kitchen ?
A : We wanted to turn up the kitchen and dining outer space close to the nursing home ’s dining room and kitchen , as there is always a flow between the two . New double doors ( which allow for easy flow between indoors and out ) were put in to replace an existing window to the area .
Q : Were there any challenges with place or installation ?
A : place was a challenge for this project . We had a long narrow quad for the kitchen and took vantage of that by using a individual counter layout .

Q : What brand of appliances did you practice ?
A : A 38 " Grand Turbo work up In Gas BBQ , Grand Turbo Double Burner Cook Top , BBQ Galore3 Drawer Cabinet and anAvantirefrigerator .
Q : Were there any extra ingredient that you customized or retrofitted to operate for this outdoor - kitchen design ?
A : We customized the concrete countertops to be a similar coloration to the blue - Harlan F. Stone floor . The owner ’s monogram , a letter vitamin B complex , was stained into the concrete countertops . The concrete backsplash tile also incorporate the prissy character of the nursing home . Lighting was carefully considered , and a organisation of underground and overhead lighting was carefully incorporated into the design .
Q : How does the outdoor kitchen relate to the overall garden and house ?
A : This Victorian home is one of the oldest homes in Los Angeles . We want to be certain that the personality of the outside space reflected the computer architecture of the home . measured attention was yield to using woodworking details , color and finishes that were relate to the prudish home . We used an ashlar - pattern - cut blue Harlan Stone for the flooring and Edward Durell Stone for the facing of the kitchen cabinets .
Q : Were there any other furnishings / décor used to fill out the place ?
A : We make a trellised dining area neighboring to the kitchen and used a Zn table top , which is easy caution and blend in well with the other finishes .
