More fall foliage and flowers from an immaculate late-season garden
Hi GPODers !
As predict , we ’re back in Carol Verhake ’s fall garden in Berwyn , Pennsylvania . After seeing a lovely array of plant with hideous fall interest yesterday ( check out Part 1if you missed it ) , we get to enjoy even more drop scene from her lovely landscape . Here ’s a short admonisher of what she say about her compliance :
I ’ve let in some snug ups of fall flower that pack a lick along with some broader eyeshot that show dusk color all around the garden .

I go for you enjoy these views of my current landscape – I loved seeing a lot of color this time of year , which was unexpected given the record breaking drought weather condition in the region this year .
While conifers are most often used for twelvemonth - rhythm structure and color , there are some that put on a in particular arresting public presentation for fall . ‘ Soul Fire ’ Metasequoia glyptostrodoides ( Metasequoia glyptostroboides‘Soul Fire ’ , Zones 4–8 ) is a deciduous conifer , so it will lose it ’s leaves during the winter month , but make up for a want of winter sake with a vibrant final display .
A miscellaneous island bed in Carol ’s garden provides all sort of fab color and textures , including a hopeful pink rose that is hanging on into the previous time of year .

And there ’s that gorgeous moon logic gate again . Carol could not have selected a better picture frame for the tapestry of colors in her landscape painting .
Though her garden has always look like sodding perfection , Carol is obviously always adding and updating . On the leftfield is a new stone work bench in her back garden . A staring place to take in her beautiful scenes .
Another great plant close - up . While each case of hydrangea has its merits , oakleaf hydrangeas(Hydrangea quercifolia , Zones 5–9 ) get brownie point from me because of their incredible decline pastime . Having hydrangea bloom in autumn is such a treat but the red foliage puts it over the top .

So many Japanese maples are excellent choices for fall gardens , but the discrete and unique human body of ‘ Peve Starfish ’ ( Acerpalmatum‘Peve Starfish ’ , Zones 5–9 ) construct it in particular interesting . I also bed the sheer slope of bright red to deep purple .
In Part 1 , I cite that Carol had many “ gems ” in her garden . Yesterday that included bright purple berries and blue flowers . Today , I ’m adding this lustrous seed head to the list . It looks extra bright with the light fall color in the background .
While Carol has her share of unexpected or rare plant picks , she also makes room for plenty of classics . Fall gardens andchrysanthemumsgo hand - in - hand , and this ‘ Hillside Sheffield Pink ’ mum ( Chrysanthemum‘Hillside Sheffield Pink ’ , Zones 5–9 ) is so pretty .

plain , Carol has endless twilight people of colour to savor in her garden . One of those stars is aJapanese stewartia(Stewartia pseudocamellia , Zones 5–8 ) that is stress so nicely with burnished green fern behind .
The Modern Edward Durell Stone bench we see above in an good afternoon glow .
All of Carol ’s incredible plantings are accented by the hulk deciduous trees that surround . In the pin they give her a breathtaking show .

A close look at the awesome view of tumble vividness through the moonshine gate .
Lastly , a flower - covered water feature is yet another area of pastime and eye - candy to enjoy . Though we ’ve catch a relatively extensive tour of her beautiful outer space , it always seems like there is so much more to see and explore .
Thank you so much for sharing your incredible garden with us again , Carol ! Seeing your blank space in all its fall glorification gets good and better every class .
