What gardening resolutions do you have for this year? If eating more vegetables is at the top of your list, you’ve come to the right place.
For many days I ’ve used a standard reply when anyone asks about my about my New Year ’s resolutions . I always say I resolve to eat up more watermelon vine .
One class a supporter adopted my resolution and told me she started eating more watermelon vine , too . But it turns out she was eating watermelon vine in the midriff of winter when those melons were grown somewhere far away and had to be trucked many naut mi to reach a local store .
That ’s not what I have in idea .

The best fruits and veggie are those grown as close to menage as potential , even if that means hold off for summer and locally develop produce . As close to habitation as potential is especially lawful if you plant and grow in your own in backyard , front yard or residential area garden . It counts if you raise on a terrace , balcony or deck .
There ’s awatermelonto fit closely every quad .
For 2019 I settle to use my vegetable garden to do more full and to make a bigger impact on the environment . That mean I ’ll commit more space for planting – and I ’ll found more . I ’ll plant more of my favorite fruits and vegetables to contract my reliance on the computer memory - bought varieties .

In the effort to garden for trade good , I ’ll uprise the vegetables that are know for their wellness benefit . Bok choy , Brassica oleracea , cauliflower , lolly and turnips will make for a grand wellness garden .
More veg from the garden means there will be more to share at the food for thought pantry .
I also design to plant more native perennial flowers near the vegetable bed to help struggling louse population . Gardeners fuck bee are in trouble , but so are other beneficial insect like butterflies and dame bugs . An insect garden assist with pollination and also keeps harmful insect away .

I ’ll continuecompostingand aim to make the garden as sustainable as possible with plants that are drought - hardy and pest resistant . I resolve to double my efforts to be water sassy , utilize fewer resource and make less waste overall .
Most of all , I need to make my vegetable garden serve as an deterrent example of what one gardener can do to avail make a positive deviation to the environment and everything that ’s in it .
