Focusing on a single hue results in a stunning, cohesive design
Last spring , we gainsay our reader to project a container that featured a singlecolor . Whether you have a cacoethes for purple , a yen for yellow-bellied , or an obsession fororange , we want to see how you celebrate your choose color in a monochromaticcontainer design . The results are in . And yet again , we ’re astounded by the gift and vision of our lector . Congratulations to our winner and finalists !
The Winner
The softer side of orange (photo above)
This is the third clip Sheila has won our challenge , and there seems to be no end to her gift and imagery . While she chose orange as her colouring material , she conk out for subtlety rather than flash , lean toward peach tones . We bed the peach tips of thealoe , how the hyssop and gomphrena resound the aloe ’s tones , and how Sheila chose acontainerthat makes the full composition harmonious . Bravo !

The Finalists
White lights up the shade
Cindy has ashadyyard , and white was just the ticket for brightening things up and creating a focal point against a dark - painted shed . The tuteur adds height and musical accompaniment for the lavish heyday of the genus Mandevilla . The Algerian ivy and geranium run aground the container , hold on it from becoming top - enceinte .

Red-orange turns up the heat
There ’s no mistaking what colour inspire Nathan . His large unabashedly red - orange container is the perfect canvass for a spicy variety of plants that celebrate this invigorating chromaticity . Nathan ’s mix of texture is intriguing , and the range of crimson - oranges — from picket to deep — is exciting .

Pink is lush and cheerful
Margaret lionize pink with a commixture of old standards , like petunia and geranium , with some exciting surprises , like a lemony jewels of Opar and a jazzy ‘ Fireworks ’ fountain skunk . A froth of pinkish baby ’s breath is the frosting on this floral cake .

Purple can be dark and sultry
Chris chose to lionise the darker side of purple : with dusky purple and almost - blackfoliagewith slenderly bright flowers , which keep the leafage from melt into the shadows . Even her terra - cotta container has drear purple tones . The result is subtle , advanced , and rich .
