Opuntia polyacantha is aboriginal toNorth America . It is widespread in westernCanada , theGreat Plains , the Cicily Isabel Fairfield and the centralUnited States , and Chihuahua in northernMexico .

Opuntia polyacanthais a shrubbycactuswith ellipse , green , spiny pad growing one atop the other . It can farm up to 16 inch ( 40 centimetre ) tall and 10 foot ( 3 m ) broad . The pads can reach up to 10 column inch ( 25 atomic number 96 ) in distance and up to 7 column inch ( 17.5 cm ) in width . The areoles are tipped with woolly brownish fibers and glochidium .
