Tropicals, shrubs, and perennials mingle in this lovely garden
My name is Margaret McDuffie . I live in Wilmington , North Carolina , which is in Zone 8 . This is my first time sending pictures . I have a go at it the outdoors and beautiful landscaping . To me , it is therapeutic communing with nature . There is always something blooming in my yard . I have sasanquas(Camelliasasanqua , Zones 7–11 ) , azaleas , camellias(Camellia japonica , Zones 7–11 ) , gardenias , roses , hydrangeas , and an potpourri of flowering perennial . In the summertime , I particularly enjoy tropic flowers likehibiscus(Hibiscus rosa - sinensis , Zones 9–11 ) and plumerias(Plumeria hybrids , zone 10–11 ) . I have agreenhousewhere I keep them in the colder month . Today ’s pics were taken over several years .
Spring color from the classical shrub of the American South , anazalea .
Bright bluebigleaf hydrangeas(Hydrangeamacrophylla , zone 5–11 ) . acid soil ensure that hydrangeas produce the bluest possible flower .

An arch welcome you into the garden , with a furry garden resident ready to give a tour — or possibly just chamfer some squirrel .
Plumeria blooms in the hot of tropic colors and produces a terrific fragrance as well .

Margaret ’s nursery allows her to winter hertropical plant .
Bright Asiatic lilies ( Lilium , Asian group , Zones 5–9 ) . Asiatic lilies bluster some of the brightestcolorsand most divers practice of the various group of hybrid lilies , though they lack the aroma of some of their congeneric .
Maypop , our aboriginal passionflower vine ( Passifloraincarnata , Zones 5–10 ) . While most passionflowers are rigorously tropical , this species can live as far north as Zone 5 . Just be warned : If it is glad , this beautiful aboriginal vine can broadcast very aggressively .

A magnificentangel ’s trumpet(Brugmansiasuaveolens , or hybrid , Zones 8–10 ) . Margaret is favorable to live where this fragrant , beautiful shrub can winter outside , but gardeners in dusty climates can enjoy it year - after - year by growing in acontainerand bringing it inside for the wintertime .
