Visiting two great gardens
Hi GPODers . This is Joseph , your GPOD editor . I recently pack a trip to Stillwater , Oklahoma , and guess I ’d share some of the beautiful garden scenes I mother to enjoy while there .
My first stop in townsfolk was thebotanic garden at Oklahoma State University . It was full of a lot of gorgeous things , but I maybe loved this planting the best . In a hot , sunny spot , it was engraft up with cacti and otherdrought - adapted works .
wax up out the seam are these unbelievable planters made from metal tobacco pipe and sometime plow discs , each one menage to a beautiful cactus specimen .

These cacti are tender and have to expend the winter in the greenhouse . They are a double-dyed selection for these planters , as they are fine with a small amount ofsoilthat will dry out easily .
There are many different area within thebotanic garden . This is a view from theJapanese garden , which was coolheaded and reposeful . A resident CT was clearly a large fan of it as well .
There are alsohardy cactigrowing in soil . This is a metal money of hedgehog cactus ( genusEchinocereus ) I intend , flourish in a dryrock gardenarea .

My next hitch was the great nurseryBustani Plant Farm , which grows all sorts of beautiful and unusual plants and , even better , has a great video display garden so that you’re able to see the industrial plant growing . It is such a great way to introduce local gardener to Modern plant life . This section include manywater - wiseselections , include this gorgeousArtemisia‘Silver Bullet ’ .
The plant in the foreground of this image from the stone garden at Bustani isZinniaangustifolia , anannualspecies that is very drought tolerant and looks beautiful all summer long .
The sway garden is loaded down with flower . The yellow flower is a native one-year genus Helenium ( Heleniumamarum ) that blooms all summertime and , when it is happy ( as it is here),self - sows .
