Garden Bloggers’ Bloom Day. September.

I almost forgot . This is the clock time of the month when garden bloggers lurch around their gardens and find what they have in bloom . We will commence with something a little strange . This isColquhounia coccineavar . vestita . It needs a really warm , sunny spot . It comes from grassland in the Himalayas .   I do n’t know how fearless it is because last year we had a really mild winter . It did get thin back to the ground   but it grew back again .   It probably wo n’t cope with a really unvoiced winter . It has soft , silvery   leaves and very eye - catching orange flowers .

Everybody seems to be growing tithonias this year and   carrying on the orangish theme I haveTithonia rotundifolia ‘ Torch ’ . I like I had   grow more of them them they are gorgeous .

We still have an abundance of daisy but I am not go to show you yet more Rudbeckia andAster frikartii‘Monch ’ although they are still going stiff . But I love Michaelmas daisy and here are a few more which are out now . I make love thisAster nova-   angliae –    ‘ Purple Dome ’ . I have just learnt from Jason atgardenininthecityblog that we have to call themSymphyotrichumnow . Oh darling . ‘Purple Dome ’ is a dear name for it because it does make a nice groovy bean . I love the little flowered Asters and ‘ Le Vasterival ’ is just coming out now . I love it .

This adorable hybrid is named after the beautiful garden of the belated Princess Sturdza near Dieppe in France . It is one of my favourites . I have a pinkish Aster which has been flowering for some time now . It isAster novae - angliae ‘ Harrington ’s Pink ’ . Sorry I ca n’t get my header round the young name yet . I just think back that it is something ‘ trichum ’ . It has sure enough play a trick on me . you’re able to just see theAsterbehind the orange go away ofHamamelis x intermedia‘Arnold ’s Promise . ’ I was a bit anxious about this flora set out its fall coloring so early but Cathy atRamblinginthegardenassures me that hers has   too .

This is another   daisy   with dusky pink flowers , it is Aster amellus ‘ Brilliant’ . And one more daisy flower . I love this redCoreopsis . ’Red Shift ’ . It is well describe because the colour does vary as the season goes on and it convert from sensationalistic to Marxist . The back of the flowers are a golden yellow . Whilst we are look at cherry-red bloom my disconsolate red Dahlias are persist in to enchant me . Next year I must try grow some different unity , but I have been seek to get dahlia as near to black as potential .

genus Colchicum ‘ The Giant ’

I have sex the white flush ofColchicum autumnale‘Album ’ . It is not as pure white asColchicum   speciosum‘Album ’ , but it is promiscuous to find . Whilst we are   talk about   utter , bloodless flower , take a look at this prickly poppy : Argemone grandiflora . I lie with it . We all have passel of pinkCyclamen hederifoliumin bloom now . The white-hot one is so lovely too .

Like everyone else I grow lots of Sedums because they are so useful at this time of the year and attract butterfly . My favourite , which you do n’t see very often , is the bright coloured ’ Red cauli’ . And now I am cash in one’s chips to polish off with my favourite plant in bloom at the moment . It really require a post all to itself . It is so beautiful that I ca n’t stop star at it . I anticipate I will be demonstrate it again because it is so gorgeous . But here is a glimpse of it . Drum roll please for the Guernsey lily : Nerine sarniensis . Thank you to Carol atmaydreamgardensfor hosting this popular meme . If you pop over there you may find out what hoi polloi around the world are enjoy in their gardens at the second .

Nerine is a beautiful flower , I can see why it ’s your favorite right now . The Colquohounia at the top of your billet with the orange peak is adorable too .

Oh , you have lots of cyclemen blooming right now . It ’s a January efflorescence down here . In fact , you have stack of raw and unusual to me plants flowering , but I still love the aster best .

You have so many beauties , Chloris ! Like Jane , Cyclamen purpurascens will grow here in Central Texas , but only in the wintertime . I especially love the “ Michaelmas ” daisies . Ours are usually call off , Fall Aster orAmerican aster , or Wild blue aster and they have not yet bloomed , but will in October . Probably . The botanic name ? Symphyotrichum oblongifolium – how ’s that for a mouthful ? I ’ll pose with one of the other names , give thanks you . I can see why that nerine is your favorite – so , so endearing . well-chosen blooms to you .

Chloris your flowers are beautiful … and you’re able to still call them asters . I do .

You have a beautiful collection of flowers for Bloom Day , Chloris , some of which I ’ve never heard of . That Hesperantha is gorgeous and , as the genus does n’t even appear in my domain garden template , I await that means I ca n’t turn it here . I ’ve never go through a Nerine that color either , although that is at least in my templet and will , theoretically , mature here ( if I had the water supply to keep it alive ) . Re the categorization change – at the very least , why ca n’t the taxonomists foretell them all at one time each twelvemonth , like alteration to the tax code ?

Oh what fabulous September prime Chloris . I had to smile at the sentiment of prowl gardeners . I ’ve just heard about the aster name variety too and may well conveniently forget it . I particularly like the look of your ‘ Le Vasterival ’ and must discover out more . I have aster diveraticus which has lovely white flowers but it has a very floppy drug abuse .

I have trouble call in asters by any other name but that . I palpate pretty good about myself when I experience the botanic name , so it ’s really irritating when taxonomer determine to exchange the name on me :) I make out the Salvia patens – just saw them in a garden north of here and have marked them down on my wish list . So many pretty blooms in your garden , but you definitely make unnecessary the best for last – the Guernsey lily is gorgeous !

You have so many beautiful blossom for this clip of year , Asters are just starting to flower here and I go for to get some more soon to add to them , yes I ’m still call them asters and will do for a while yet ! I am also bewilder some salvias , for yr I mean I could n’t grow them because of our fleshy filth but if I do cuttings and then lighten the territory , they should be all correct I think ?
