Top blooms of the year
We visited Gail ’s beautiful North Carolina garden yesterday , and today we ’re back to see some of her preferent pictures from the past class :
I live at 3300 foot in the middle of an oak tree timber . There is only one categorical area on our property , an arc 50 ’ long with a maximum depth of 25 ’ . Everywhere else is steeplyslopedand I ’m doing my best to fill it all .
I ’m so happy I engraft thisPiceaabies‘Acrocona ’ ( Zone 3 – 7 ) . The new foliage and those pinkish child pine cone are fabulous .

I like to add art to my garden . This artwork pole is pretty set against chives(Alliumschoenoprasum , Zone 4 – 8) and common fleabane(Erigeronphiladelphicus , Zone 2 – 7 )
Dianthus(Zone 4 – 8) peaking behind a dwarfHosta(Zone 3 – 9 ) is a wonderful compounding oftexturesand coloration .
Aphrodite allspice(Calycanthus‘Aphrodite ’ , Zone 5 – 9 ) is a greatsmall tree diagram . I live I should be favoring natives , but I love these flowers .

For a touch of coloring material unlike anything else in my garden , there ’s double flower Orange River quince(Chaenomelesspeciosa , Zone 4 – 8) .
Pretty as a flick … Tiarella‘Pink Symphony ’ ( Zone 4 – 9 ) is a slap-up addition to mywoodland garden .
Wallflower(Cheiranthus allionii , Zone 3 – 8) tucked in under anevergreenis a welcome surprise .

Geraniumsanguineum(Zone 3 – 9 ) is fairly mutual , but the punch of people of color it adds is remarkable .
Daisies(Leucanthemumvulgare , Zone 3 – 8) , lupine(Lupinuspolyphyllus , Zone 3 – 7 ) , foxgloves(Digitalispurpurea , Zone 4 – 9 ) and sweet William(Dianthusbarbatus , Zone 3 – 9 ) love the sunshine of this early summertime southeast facing slope .
By far my favorite icon from last summer , a butterfly enjoys the liatris(Liatrisspicata , Zone 3 – 8) with some daylilies(Hemerocallishybrids , Zone 3 – 9 ) in the foreground .
