From Linda: Bloom Day 4 April 2025
This meter , motivation was a tad low to participate in Carol atMay Dreams GardensGarden Bloggers Bloom Day .
Here in east Austin , Texas , we ’ve had over 50 days of over 100º , and no rain . My garden miss the surprise drench this week . But , I turn over Carol ’s idea a fabulous one to colligate garden conditions from around the world , a sort of National Geographic tour for gardeners . But , believe me , if you ’re thinking of moving to Texas , bring urine !
I was so well-chosen that this one premiere just in time .

My friendRobert Beyergave me a cutting of his variegated althaea last year , started from a champion ’s industrial plant in Houston . I put it in a muckle and watched it grow up ( now about 18″ tall ) . I ’m sure beaming I did n’t plant it this yr ! On the patio , I can keep an eye and the piss hose on it . When things seem a little better this winter , I ’ll find this looker a spot in the ground . For us , althaea are very reliable shrubs / little tree through just about everything .
On gardening in drought , control out Bob’snew templet and splendid plant list .
Most of my blooming plants are in pots . The sambac jasmine ( Jasminium sambac ) still perfumes the terrace morning and nighttime .

Every calendar week , I have to bring down its exuberant stems away from the equally prolific ornamental ( and eatable ) hot Madagascar pepper , which does ask water supply every two Clarence Day . The sambac is not so thirsty .
Across the patio in its new heap , the Valentine rose is still at it .
Next to it , the carnation I succumbed to this leaping has n’t cratered .

I mixed in a lot of break up granite with well - draining pot soil and topped it with more granite . I only water when it ’s totally ironic , not just because I intend it needs it ( like your mom putting you in a sweater when she ’s dusty ) .
I ’m so beaming I moved the pot bougainvillea to the now sunny cat cove earlier this year . Before , it never bloomed deserving a dang , no matter how much blood meal I put on it .
Now , it ’s such a show - off that every dawn when I take the air into the den , it ’s the first thing that take in my eye through the windowpane .

My first plumeria keep pump ’em out too .
When blossoms fall to the ground , I put them in a tiny vase on my kitchen windowsill . They last for day !
This morning , the Brazilian rock rose ( Pavonia brazilienis ) in the crape bed begged to be in Bloom Day , too .

Turks cap , pavonia , half-pint plant , and lantana are bloom today too . But swither was fog my glass , so I give up on them .
I flower best right now when I ’m in my kiddie pool , so see ya later ! Linda
