A look around the farm before we say arrivederci …
Although we will continue save our horticulture , recipe and DIY article as we travel the land for the next year , one matter we wo n’t be able to do is partake seasonal photos from the farm back in Ohio .
So we think we would take one last flavour around to take it all in before we lead out , and share a few picture with you .
Fall is our inviolable favorite time at the farm . The vibrant colors and the frosty , cool weather are simply a slash of heaven on globe .
So as we prepare to head out and release the farm over to a few full clock time family residents , here is a look around our little Old World Garden Farm as fall apace approaches .

A Look Around Before We Say Goodbye…
The Patio & Outdoor Kitchen Area
A quite a little of perennials , flowering yearly and ornamental capsicum plants run along the incoming to the terrace and out-of-door kitchen field .
We use this orbit every year as a billet to constitute our redundant bloom . And it always seems to end up being one of our preferred engraft areas .

Probably one of our pet projects ever at the farm , the cabin now sits nestled in between the apple tree and grape vineyard like it has been here all along .
We had so much merriment commute this piddling shed into a place for visitors to stay . Maybe we can remain here on our mode through Ohio :) .
Saying Good Bye To The Pizza Oven…
If there was one matter we certainly get our use out of this class , it was our homemade pizza pie oven !
It seemed like at least once or twice a calendar week , someone was coming over for pizza night . And that is exactly why we built it – to enjoy with friend and kinsperson !
There is nothing quite like making homemade pizza pelf , and then let it crisp up in about 5 minutes in the oven .
It will be heavy to say goodbye to homemade pizzas for the next year . But we are certain it will be go off up and enjoy quite often by mob and neighbor in our absence !
One of our big projects at the farm this class was to run electric to the lower part of the farm .
It was a muckle a lot of digging and punishing employment for certain . But being able to enjoy the garden and session areas at night now makes it all worth it .
It is awesome how just a small act of light can make an entirely new feeling for an existing space .
When people ask us why we garden , this picture suppose it all !
One of our pet thing to make from the garden during the growing time of year is homemade meat & veggie bowl .
Fresh chop onion , Lycopersicon esculentum , and capsicum with a bit of fresh cilantro on top makes for a delightful and nutritious meal . Especially when you add it a bit of Brassica oleracea botrytis rice .
You simply ca n’t replicate the refreshful taste . And just await at those vivacious colour .
Quite simply , it ’s because there is no well feel that to model down to a repast that comes almost whole from the garden .
It is awing to think that just one month ago , this space was loaded with crops ! But the love apple , peppers , lucre , broccoli , cucumbers – and even the popcorn have all been reap .
Normally at this metre of year , our garden would still be fill with fall crop . And it would just about be metre to start planting the first of our wrangle in a cover harvest of annual rye.(See : When & How To Plant A Cover Crop In The Garden )
But not this year . As we set to head out on our one year journeying to tour the states , we decided to tarp the garden to give it a year long residuum .
I have to say it was a weird feeling for both of us as we cover it .
But it certainly looks peaceable . And the skillful part is , the garden really wo n’t miss a beat .
When we go far back home for commodity this sentence next year , we will simply draw in it back , plant our fall binding harvest , and pick up right where we left off !
As we said goodbye to the farm this workweek , it was only fitting that we had the chance to pose around the blast pit for one last time .
The firing pit is one of our out-and-out favorite places to enjoy an eventide at the farm . And so last nighttime , we enjoyed a farewell glass of vino and a nice roar fire to think about the twelvemonth onward .
We get laid this piazza , and will certainly omit it as we travel around . But it is in great hands for the next twelvemonth , and it will all be here to welcome us back next September .
