In Maryland , my local farmers ’ markets close up for the winter time of year . In warm climes like California and the southern state , markets go on yr around . Luckies . For we gardener who are awaiting the turn time of year with baited breath – here are some mouthwatering shots of produce taken at the Santa Cruz farmers ’ grocery store – what a pleasure ! A veritable palette of colors , shapes , textures and tastes to titillate our palate !

California is the artichoke uppercase of the U.S. and you could see subject field and fields of them off of Highway 1 from south of Watsonville and Frederick North almost to Half Moon Bay . Fortunately , more and more agriculturalist are using organic method for turn them . I really care to bear these small business who are walking the walking : growing the botanical , creating foods and medicine that is thoughtful and nourishing , not to mention unholy safe tasting !

With a farsighted growing season , winter crop are bountiful this time of year - scallion , radicchio , and rootle crop like carrot , parsnips , rutabaga and celery with its green stalks and root bulb are available . And the cole crops were pile richly from creamy vernacular cauliflowers to the precious stone - alike Romanesco , Brussels pullulate and Broccolini . Quick , nerveless weather garden truck like radishes , baby lettuces and greens are harbingers of outflow .
